The University of the Pacific is committed to creating a campus culture that advances a sustainable future among all members of the Pacific community. Across all three campuses, Pacific is implementing sustainable practices and engaging the Pacific community and its external constituencies through educational programs.
What does it mean to become sustainable? Sustainability takes into account the environmental, social and economic impacts of everyday choices - from purchasing paper, recycling, and equity of growth for all individuals of the world.
Pacific's efforts have not gone unnoticed. For the past three years, the Sierra Club named Pacific one of the nation's top 100 "Cool Schools" for sustainable and green efforts. Pacific has also become a member of AASHE Stars and the U.S. Green Building Council. Efforts has also included April becoming Sustainability Month where for the entire month we focus on issues of sustainability with a wide range of events at each campus.
About Sustaining Pacific
Sustaining Pacific is a department on campus that provides leadership, support and resources for all three campuses to become more sustainable and have responsible leaders. Responsible leadership at Pacific starts with our active commitment to ensuring a sustainable future. The purpose of this site is to highlight Pacific's leadership in advancing sustainability initiatives both inside and outside the classroom.
Since its founding, Sustaining Pacific has implemented across campus recycling in all of its facilities, helped with the development and success of the Ted & Chris Robb Garden, assisted in the creation of bicycle share programs at all three campuses, establised a Sustainability Month at Stockton Campus and Sustainable Week at McGeorge and Dugoni campuses and more.
