Congratulations to Our Outstanding 2014 Graduate!

Nathan Chau

The Department of Economics provides a high quality, versatile education to students that prepares them for success in a wide variety of professions or post-graduate education.

Wide choice of degree options

We offer B.S. and B.A. degrees, each with a choice of individually tailored tracks, as well as a B.S. in Computing and Applied Economics. This broad choice should meet the needs of just about any student.

Learn a skill set that is usable in the real world

Economics majors and minors are taught how to conceptualize their own roles in society, whether acting as individuals, members of private-sector firms or as public servants in the government sector.

When you graduate with a degree in Economics, you will know how to apply theoretical and technical skills (e.g. statistics and computers) to any number of specialized areas within the discipline.

Two Economics majors, Mary Anderson and Marina Ota, worked as interns during summer 2013 at the Federal Housing Finance Agency in Washington, DC.  Kevin Alvarado will intern there this summer 2014.  The FHFA is the agency that regulates the Federal Home Loan Banks as well as the mortgage companies Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.  Mary and Marina are using their backgrounds in quantitative methods to help the agency in their risk modeling and analysis activity.
