Borrow, Renew, Request

All Pacific faculty (including emeriti), students and staff are eligible to borrow library materials.

  • Borrowing Policies 

    All Pacific faculty (including emeriti), students and staff are eligible to borrow library materials. A current valid Pacific ID is needed for check out.

    Loan Periods

    *Adjunct faculty are eligible to borrow library materials for the duration of their appointment. Emeriti faculty are eligible to borrow library materials for their lifetime.
    **Special borrowers must first purchase a library card.

    Library materials are due at the time and date on the due date slip, or as stated when borrowed, renewed, or recalled.

  • Renew 

    You may renew items yourself by logging in to Your Library Account. Follow the instructions to view your library record and renew materials. Undergraduate students, alumni, and special borrowers may renew most items once, unless a hold or recall has been placed by another library user. Faculty and graduate students may renew most items twice. Interlibrary loan items must be renewed through Illiad.

  • Interlibrary Loan 

    Materials not included in the library's collection may be requested through interlibrary loan (ILL) using ILLiad. Additional information about our ILL services can be found in the Interlibrary Loan FAQ. Only University of the Pacific students, faculty, and staff are eligible. Contact the ILL department at 209.946.2196 or with questions.

  • Request 

    Requests to order materials must be made through the Aquisitions department. The function of Acquisitions is to order, claim, receive, and pay for all library materials. Acquisitions also manages the Library materials budget and provides budget reports and statistics.

    To submit an order request:

    Step 1: Please check our catalog for the item, making sure we do not already own it
    Step 2: Review the Collection Development Policy before submitting a request
    Step 3: If you want to review an item before requesting it for purchase, submit a request through Interlibrary Loan
    Step 4: Complete an online purchase form or contact your Library liaison

    Give the order 3-4 weeks to receive the material

    If an order is needed sooner than 3-4 weeks, please clearly mark it as a RUSH and put the date needed by and the latest date the item can be used on the request form. We can not promise to get an item by your needed date, but will make every effort to do so.   • Fines 

    Materials are subject to replacement fees based on the cost of individual items lost. Interlibrary loans are also subject to replacement fees in the amount charged to Pacific from the lending library. Accounts with overdue items will be blocked. 

  • Recalls 
    • All circulating materials are subject to recall after 2 weeks, meaning that another borrower can request the item and a new due date will be issued to the original borrower.
    • Failure to return a recalled item within 7 days will result in a loss of further borrowing privileges until the item is returned.
